A Registered Forester is a professional forester licensed to practice forestry in Alabama. The purpose of the license is to protect the public and private landowners. A license requires ethical and competent forest management advice.

A Registered Forester is a college educated professional forester. Professional forester education includes a broad array of forest sciences as well as timber production and harvesting, forest measurements, forest economics and forest management.

Qualifications

What are the qualifications to be a Registered Forester?

  1. US citizenship, or legally in the US.
  2. Bachelor’s degree from a professional forester curriculum accredited by the Society of American Foresters, or equivalent.
  3. Pass the ASBRF Registered Forester Exam, or another acceptable state’s exam.
  4. Two years of professional forestry experience after graduation.
  5. Professional and Registered Forester references.
  6. Accept the Rules of Conduct of a Registered Forester.
