Application Information and Considerations
Each application form contains the specific requirements and information needed to apply. A prospective applicant should make sure that they have the professional forestry qualifications required to become licensed before applying as application fees are non-refundable.
Any questions can be directed to the Board Office: 334 240-9301.
Licensing Takes Time
The Board meets quarterly each year to approve applications (see Calendar). An application should be sent to the Board office at least 2 weeks prior to the next scheduled Board meeting to have the application considered for approval.
Another time consideration is contacting five (5) references that know you personally and professionally that are willing to promptly return reference forms to the Board.
If your application is approved requires taking the Board’s exam and, the next available exam will be about 12 weeks following approval of the application.
Forester Applications for Licensing
There are Four Registered Forester Applications for Licensing:
- Registered Forester Application for Alabama resident foresters, or non-resident foresters whose states do not have Registered Forester licenses and/or reciprocity agreements with Alabama.
- Reinstatement Application for Registered Foresters with Alabama licenses described under No. 1 above that do not renew their licenses but wish to be reinstated later.
- Reciprocity Application for Registered Foresters in certain states that have reciprocity agreements with Alabama (see list below). Reciprocity provides the privilege of practicing forestry in Alabama under the Registered Forester’s home state license.
- Reciprocity Reinstatement Application for Registered Foresters practicing under the reciprocity provision that do not renew their reciprocity privileges.
Alabama Reciprocity Agreement States: Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
