Lea Anna Meadows, Executive Director of the Board, has announced plans to retire on January 1, 2025 (see announcement on ASBRF website). The Board is actively seeking a replacement effective January 1, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Promote ASBRF mission and “voice.”
  • Create and execute plans for the attainment of objectives set by the Board.
  • Ensure adherence of ASBRF’s activities  to policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage and oversee financial transactions with state treasury, create reports for the Board and respond to state auditors.
  • Create and submit required state reports, rule and law changes and  nomination packages with other state agencies and the governor’s office.
  • Forge and maintain relations of trust with stakeholders, partners and external authorities.
  • Function as the public speaker and public relations representative of ASBRF to strengthen its profile.
  • Manage routine Board tasks, including but not limited to, prompt responses to inquiries, managing license applications and renewals, updating the Alabama Registered Forester roster, updating the ASBRF website, create and facilitate examinations, receive and handle complaints compliant with protocols and legal advice, maintain required records and files, prepare meeting agenda and materials, and accomplish other various tasks of the Board

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience managing a broad array of competing tasks to meet stakeholder expectations and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated to take initiative and deliver quality results without close supervision.
  • Strong understanding of administrative financial processes and reporting.
  • In depth knowledge of governance principles and managerial best practices
  • Capability to solve problems within Board protocols.
  • Outstanding organization and leadership abilities
  • Excellent skills in communication (oral and written),public speaking and networking.
  • Knowledge of and /or experience with professional forestry. Preferably a graduate professional forester.

Employment Information

  • This employee is appointed by the ASBRF Board and serves at the Board’s pleasure.
  • Salary and benefits are administered by the State of Alabama under the State’s salary merit system and benefits programs.
  • Travel and per diem expenses are covered under State of Alabama rules and procedures.
  • This employee reports to the Board Chair.
  • This employee’s office is in Montgomery within the Alabama Forestry Commission building.
  • This employee is equipped with a laptop computer for out of office travel and working from home as allowed.
