The Alabama State Board of Registration for Foresters (ASBRF) purpose is “…to benefit and protect the public…” (Ala. Code 34-12-2).

ASBRF licenses qualified professional foresters to practice forestry in Alabama. Established in 1957, the Board has licensed Registered Foresters for over six decades. The Board gives practical exams to applicants as well as guides and approves continuing forestry education. The Board actively interacts with Alabama’s professional forestry university programs to promote licensing and examination of graduates. The Board provides accountability to licensees as well as non-licensees. A Registered Forester roster is maintained with all currently licensed foresters. The ASBRF website is maintained to provide current information about all aspects of the ASBRF.

Board members are nominated by a selection committee. Three nominees are sent to the Governor for consideration and selection of one appointee each year.
